Use of private information policy (GDPR)

Last updated: 08.01.2020

We respect the EU’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and this policy explains how we collect and treat any information you give us. You won’t find any complicated legal terms or long passages of unreadable text. We’ve no desire to trick you into agreeing to something you might later regret. We use personal data to provide our service and related content to people who request or register for it, and for managing our relationship with those people. We don't offer any information to third parties, but there are exceptions where we use external service providers to power our operations.

Our policy covers

  1. Why we value your privacy

  2. How we collect information

  3. What information we hold

  4. Where we store your information

  5. Who’s responsible for your information at our company

  6. Who has access to information about you

  7. The steps we take to keep your information private

  8. How to complain

  9. Changes to the policy

  10. Deleting your data

  11. Cookie policy

Why we value your privacy

We value your privacy as much as we do our own, so we’re committed to keeping your personal and business information safe. We’re uncomfortable with the information companies, governments, and other organisations keep on file, so we ask for only the bare minimum from our customers. We’ll never use your personal information for any reason other than why you gave it, and we’ll never give anyone access to it unless we’re forced to by law.

How we collect information

We ask for contact information including your name, email address, and phone number, on our website so that we can reply to your enquiry.

We collect your email address when you sign up for one of our newsletters, and when you make an account.

We ask for your account and contact information when you buy something from us.

Occasionally, we might receive your contact information from one of our partners. If we do, we protect it in exactly the same way as if you give it to us directly.

What information we hold, and how we use it

During running of our service, we collect the following personal information, either when it is provided by you, or when we derive it from your use of the service:

  • Contact details. When you contact us by email or through our website, we collect your name, email address, phone number, a social media username, and the company you work for, if you’ve given us that. If you sign up for a newsletter, we only collect your email address and name (if provided).  We use your contact details to authenticate you when you login with the service, and to communicate with you. We will use your email for important updates to your account, and to encourage you to subscribe.

  • Payment information. We use this to determine whether you have paid for the service or not, if you have access to our free trial, or not. We use Stripe as our payment processor. We never have access to your credit card information.

  • Subscription and invoice details. If you are a user, we will keep details of your invoices and payments. If you do business with us, we also collect your business name and bank details and keep records of the invoices we send you and the payments you make.

  • Summaries of conversations. We keep these through our support chat integration, Intercom, to be able to solve any account or technical issues.

  • University or employer and other identifiable information if provided by you. We use this to improve on our algorithms and make your experience on Pathfinder better by showing you more relevant information.

  • Your usage of the service. We use this to provide you with the service, to be able to make recommendations, and for security and protection purposes.

  • We gather certain technical information from your use of our website by means of cookies and similar technologies. For more details, see the Cookie policy below.

Where we store your information

When you contact us by email or through our website, we store your your information in Gmail, our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. If you sign up for a newsletter, we store your email address in MailChimp, which is the marketing platform we prefer. When you buy something, your information is stored in Stripe, our eCommerce platform.  All your account information is stored in our secured databases. We chose these systems partly for their commitment to security. Certain analytics data is stored over our analytics platform through Segment, but all data is expired after 30 days.

Who’s responsible for your information at our company

Laura Bengescu, our CTO, is responsible for the security of your information. You can contact them by email at if you have any concerns about the information we store.

Who has access to information about you

When we store information in our own systems, only the people who need it have access. Our management team have access to everything you’ve provided, but individual employees have access to only what they need to do their job.

How to complain

We take complaints very seriously. If you’ve any reason to complain about the ways we handle your privacy, please contact us by email at If you’re the letter writing type, send your envelope to Pathfinder Software,  Bentinck House, 3-8 Bolsover Street, London W1W 6AB

Changes to the policy

If we change the contents of this policy, those changes will become effective the moment we publish them on our website.

Deleting your data

We take protecting your data very seriously. If you want to stop your account, you can cancel from your profile settings, and your profile will be put on hold once your paid subscription time ends. If you want us to remove your account completely, including deleting all of your personal data and all of your progress on our website, please contact us directly at with your delete account inquiry. We aim to respond and take care of this for you as soon as possible, and at the latest within one month of receipt.
